Obituary

Helen I. Hargrave, was born in Colby Kansas, on December 14, 1920. She graduated from North High School in Denver, CO. Upon graduation she worked as a housekeeper & companion. She met her future husband, Cooper (Pete) Petersen, while dancing. Dancing was one of Helens many loves. They married September 6th 1941. They had two daughters Donna & Cyndee. After she learned how to swim she taught handicapped children how to swim. She loved working on her garden, too. Helen married Jack Hargrave Jr on July 10, 1972. They loved to travel and enjoyed years of travel with Ports of Call Travel Club, especially in Mexico. When Cyndee married Oscar Falcon & moved to Manzanillo, Mexico they increased their visits to Mexico and eventually bought a condo in Manzanillo. Helen & Jack took many trips with Donna & her husband Chuck Campbell, as well as enjoying many Bronco games. Upon retirement Helen volunteered to help students that had fallen behind. After Cyndee married Roger Bourne, Helen & Jack started to visit Rapid City, SD. and fell in love with the Black Hills. In 2007 they moved to Rapid City, SD. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Hargrave, Jr. in 2008. She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Campbell of Winter Park, CO and Cyndee Bourne of Des Moines, IA, and grandsons, Dean Falcon of Rapid City and Mark Falcon of Reseda, CA and great granddaughter Haley Falcon of Rapid City, SD. The family requests that donations be made to the American Breast Cancer Society. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, at Canyon Lake Church of God, 1829 Hillsview Drive in Rapid City.
