Obituary

Rapid City Helen A. Jenniges, 86, Rapid City died Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Golden Living Center-Prairie Hills. Helen Ann Hibbard was born October 23, 1924 in Hot Springs, SD to Newell and Edna [Dority] Hibbard of Pringle, SD. She attended elementary school in Pringle. In 1938 her father, a Forest Ranger, was transferred to Hot Springs. She then graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1943 and then attended National College of Business. Helen married Anthony M. Jenniges on September 24, 1945 at St. Anthonys Church in Hot Springs. Her husband was manager of several of several Red Owl Stores, and they lived in several locations in the Black Hills including Spearfish, Lead, Custer, and moving to Rapid City in 1958. Helen was employed for 16 years at the Rapid City Journal retiring in 1985. She is a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and Canyon Lake Senior Citizens Center where she done years of volunteer work at the Center. She is survived by three sons: Nick and wife Bonnie Jenniges of Rapid City, Kevin and his wife Glenda Jenniges of Custer and their daughters: Ellen, Emily and Kara, and Tony Jenniges of Custer and his daughters: Julie and Meghan; one daughter; Valerie and her husband Scott Brandsted of Rapid City and their children: Jody, Jason, and Jaime; three great-grandchildren; one brother: William Bill Hibbard of Sundance, WY; and one sister: Nettie Michaud of Billings, MT. She was preceded in death by her husband: Anthony Mark Jenniges on June 12, 1991. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 18 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, Rapid City with a Scripture Wake Service at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, August 19 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4500 Jackson Boulevard, with Rev. Brian Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Rapid City. Memorials may be directed to Canyon Lake Senior Citizens Center.
