H. Kathy Duhamel 86 of Rapid City passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026 in Rapid City.

She was born February 13, 1940 in Rapid City to Francis “Bud” and Helen (Seidell) Duhamel.

She possessed a true wanderlust and a heart for the world. She believed that life was best lived through new experiences. She didn't just visit places; she immersed herself in them, returning with stories that would entertain her family for years.

While she loved the horizon, her greatest joy was found at home with those she loved. She was a constant presence in the lives of her family and friends, always ready for a shared meal, a long conversation, or a celebration. Her legacy lives on in the many "little moments" she created—the quiet afternoons with her grandchildren and the lifelong bond she shared with her brother, Bill.

She is survived by her daughter, Mai Lynne Arvizu, and son-in-law Luis Arvizu; her four beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life; and her brother, William (Bill) Duhamel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis “Bud” Duhamel and Helen Seidell Duhamel; sister, Marguerite White; brother, Peter A. Duhamel M.D.
