Obituary

Rapid City - Helen Larson, 98, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Fountain Springs Health Care Center, Rapid City. Helen Antonette Jensen was born September 22, 1916 at DeSmet, South Dakota to Andrew and Katherine [Neu] Jensen. She grew to adulthood in rural DeSmet and graduated from DeSmet High School. She married Ludwig Oliver Larson on August 1, 1934 at Watertown, SD. They farmed in the DeSmet area and near Clark County until moving to Rapid City in 1954. She worked for Goode's Home Furnishings, Industrial Finance, and Universal Transport as a bookkeeper and accountant. They wintered in the Sun City, AZ area for a number of years following their retirement. Ludwig died March 13, 1988 and Helen continued to live in Rapid City. Survivors include two sons: Kenneth [Laura] Larson of Sun Lakes, AZ and Anton "Tony" [Carole] Larson of Carson City, NV; one sister: Joyce Vincent of DeSmet; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter: Adree Tennyson; one sister: Margrete Bonebrake; and one brother: Clarence "Boob" Jensen. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, March 30, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 402 Kansas City Street, Rapid City with Rev. Wilbur Holz officiating. Casketbearers will be Deon Tennyson, Irvin Gilbertson, Terry Vincent, Andy Vincent, John Vincent, and Gordon Wicks. Organist is Martha Boushele and there will be congregational singing. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, Rapid City. Memorials may be directed to West Bethany Cemetery Association.
