Helen Ripple, 90, Rapid City, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Helen was born May 7, 1917, at West Bend, IA., the daughter of Albert L. and Mathilda (Nelson) Severson. As a young child she moved to Conde, SD where she finished all but her last year of high school which she finished in Waterville, MN. She then attended Mankato, MN Business College. She then worked as a secretary for Jonason Construction Co. in Aberdeen until four S D contractors formed the company which built the original air base at Ellsworth. When that was completed, Helen worked for Hackett Construction Co. in Rapid City until she married Bob Ripple, May 24, 1951 in Waterville, MN. They moved back to Aberdeen where Bob had the Buick Auto Dealership. Later they lived for a short time in Willmar, MN and then moved to Rapid City and established Ripples Ladies Wear in Baken Park. She was later employed in various retail stores until her retirement. Surviving are her husband, Bob Ripple, Rapid City, three daughters, Sandy Denny, Rapid City, Janet Starkey and her husband, Ron, Rapid City and Roberts Bobbie Phillips, Salt Lake City, UT; three granddaughters, Jacque Denny, Laura Starkey and Brooke Phillips; one grandson, Tim Starkey and one great grandson, Darien Denny. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and sisters. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Osheim-Catron Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 at Canyon Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Ruedebusch officiating. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery.
