Helen A. (Hayes) Williams, 74, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House. Helen was born to Lloyd E. and Mary Hayes in Pierre on January 10, 1934. the family moved to Rapid City when she was young and she graduated from high school here. In 1952 she married Robert Williams of Rapid City and they raised four children and retired here. Helen was a kind and loving person, a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her gentle thoughtful ways were a gift to all who knew her. She participated in civic and school activities as her children were growing up. Helen was a superb watercolorists who enjoyed painting, plants, flowers, birds and scenery. Helen and Bob made many generous contributions to worthy agencies in Rapid City and else where. Helen is survived by her beloved husband, Bob and their four children: Robert L. Williams (Glenda) Annandale, VA, Susan Brinkman (Jeff & Katy Dennison), Rapid City, John M. Williams (Dena), Denver, CO, and Jean L.Smith (Jerry Munson) Rapid City, grandchildren, Maranda Williams, Annandale, VA, Nichole Meyers (Terry) Bossier, LA, Brett McManigal, Rapid City, Wendy and Walker Williams, Denver, CO and Andrew Smith, Palo Alto, CA, two great grandchildren, Morgan and Leah, daughters of Nichole and Terry Meyers. Helen was the favorite aunt of many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two brothers, Jim Hayes (Lavonne) Ft. Smith, Arkansas and Tom Hayes (Kathy) Hudson, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Harold, Joyce, his wife and their son Jerry Mike Hayes. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2008 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. A gathering to remember and give thanks for Helen's life will be Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bob Jacobs and Rev. Dena Williams presiding. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
