Obituary

Henrietta Ollenburg, 98, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Momingstar Assisted Living Center in Rapid City. She was born Dec. 6, 1911 in Mitchell, SD to Myrtle (Hanson) and William White. She was a waitress in Mitchell when she met Carl H. "Ole" Ollenburg, and they were married October 6, 1935. While in Mitchell, she was a housewife, and worked as a waitress. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. In the late 60's, she got involved in doing ceramics, and opened her own ceramic shop, Henrietta's Ceramics in the basement of their home. She was very active and made many beautiful pieces, as well as helping people learn the craft. In 1981, she and "Ole" moved to Rapid City and bought a townhouse in Chapel Valley. After moving to Rapid City, she got involved with the SD China Painters and made many beautiful works of art. She entered a lot of her hand painted plates in the Central States Fair and won many ribbons. She also had some Christmas tree ornaments on the SD China Painters Christmas tree in the State Capitol in Pierre. In 1987, Carl passed away. She is also predeceased by her mother, father, 3 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by 3 children -- a son Roger Ollenburg and his wife Patty of Bothell, Wash; daughter Carol Danner of Wayzata, Minn; and daughter Kathy Goodrich-Willmes and husband, Gary, of Rapid City. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren - Sarah Jane Healy and husband Patrick of Washington; Leslie Rojas and husband Tony, of Washington; Eric Ollenburg of California; Dori Lexvold and husband Jeff, of Minn.; Denise Danner-Lindgren and husband Kenny, of Minn; Tina Dockter and husband Dave of Rapid City; and Todd Goodrich and wife Mandy of Rapid City. Also surviving are 8 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Rapid City with Rev. Josh Jones officiating. Inurnment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
