RAPID CITY - Henry Lyle Hewitt, 71, Rapid City, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. Henry Lyle Hewitt was born Oct. 15, 1938, at Rock Valley, Ia., to Harry Leroy and Frances Ann [Perry] Hewitt. He grew to adulthood and attended school at Rock Valley, graduating from Rock Valley High School in 1956. He served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. He married Rose Marie Berner on July 22, 1963. They primarily resided in Sioux Falls for many years with permanent residency in Rapid City since 1986. Henry worked in sales his entire life until retirement from Rapid Chevrolet. Henry was very loyal and dedicated to his wife, children and grandchildren and was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church. Survivors include a son, Douglas [Kate] Hewitt of Rapid City; 4 daughters, Lenora McCollum of Rapid City, Karen [Gary Farrell] Hewitt of Coral Springs, Fla., Tami [Thomas] Curttright of Rapid City, and Jami Hewitt of Rapid City; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale [Donna] Hewitt of Brandon; and a sister, Shirley Holmquist of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his wife Rose Marie Hewitt on September 21, 2009, his parents, three brothers, Harry, Robert and Stanley Hewitt; and two sisters, Beverly Holmquist and Joyce Meyer Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a 5 p.m. prayer service, Thursday, Jan. 21, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at the Peace Lutheran Church, 219 E. St. Anne, with the Rev. David Lindenberg officiating.
