RAPID CITY- Ira Joseph (Lee) Odden Sr, died peacefully on December 25, 2010 at a local nursing home. He was a resident of Rapid City, for the past 8 years. Prior places of residence included Washington, Montana, Colorado and Wyoming. Ira was born in Herrick, South Dakota on January 16, 1928 to Charlotte and Tedwell Odden. He lived in Gregory, South Dakota and later moved to Rapid City when he was a teenager. While in Rapid City, he met and married Darlene Hauge. They later had eleven children and moved back to Washington State. Ira enjoyed through his life, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. He worked numerous jobs throughout his lifetime. His favorite job consisted of doing fabrication work and being a heavy equipment welder at the Todd shipyards. He is survived by his Children; Douglas(Jude) of Valdosta, GA, Ted(Mary) of Auburn, WA, Kevin "Kayo" of Tacoma, WA, Tom and Rob of Vancouver, WA, Kim(Dave) Hixson of Spokane, WA, Susan "Suzie" Ogden of Auburn, WA, His siblings; Gordon, Della(Litch), Irene(Pisciotti), Carol(Morsbach), Connie(Berthiaume) and Cecilia "Sis"(Johnson), 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren. Ira is preceded in death by his parents Charlotte and Tedwell Odden, His children Ira "Sonny" Jr., Donald, Jimmy and Timothy. His siblings; Dolores Baumiller, Ted Joseph "TJ", Harold "Butch" and Oliver "Ollie". A special thanks to the faculty and caregivers of Golden Living Center-Bella Vista in Rapid City, South Dakota. There are no services scheduled at this time. Burial will take place at a later date at Hill City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ira's name to one of the following organizations; American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer's Association.
