RAPID CITY - Irene M. Weybright, 84, passed away at Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Irene was born in Selby and baptized on May 29, 1926. On March 17, 1940, she was confirmed in Hosmer. Irene attended Hosmer and Leola High Schools. She continued her education at Wartburg College and then at Northern State College in Aberdeen. She has her BS degree in education. Irene also has an additional 45 hours of education courses beyond her BS degree. Irene was an elementary teacher for 11 years. She then taught elementary vocal and classroom music for 26 years. In her retirement, Irene enjoyed reading, attending concerts, plays and musicals. She also loved to travel having visited all 50 states and many foreign countries. She was a charter member of South Canyon Lutheran Church and was very active there. Survivors include her son, Ken Weybright, Rapid City; a brother, Martin Haase, Mitchell; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Nelson, Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oliver, in 1980; and two brothers, Herman and Herbert Haase. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at South Canyon Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bruce Thalacker officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A memorial has been established. A memorial website is available at www.mem.com
