Rapid City - Irma L. Rubin, 91, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. Irma Lucy Trent was born March 29, 1924 to Lucy and Gilbert Trent in rural Orelrichs, SD. She attended country grade schools and graduated from Hot Springs High School and then entered St. John's School of Nursing in Rapid City. She earned her R.N. Degree in Nursing in 1945 and worked as a Nursery Supervisor at St. John's Hospital. She married Frank Rubin on March 31, 1945 at Rapid City and they moved to Ravinia, SD where they made their home for the next two years. They returned to Rapid City where they raised their 6 children. Irma then returned to nursing and worked at Bennett Clarkson Nursing Home for the next 12 years as Director of Nursing. After her retirement, she and Frank moved to Westhills Village Retirement Apartments where they resided. Frank died August 27, 2012. Irma was an avid reader and bridge card player. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She is survived by her son Dean [Cathie] Rubin of Spearfish; four daughters: Gwen [Steve] Menke of Rapid City, Deanne [Buddy] Belzer of Rapid City, Mary Kay [Joe] Vetch of Belgrade, MT, and Sue [Jack] Teeslink of Wessington Springs, SD; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother Lewis Trent of Greenwood, IN and one sister Connie Ulmer of Chadron, NE. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, son Mark, two brothers: Bob Trent and Dewey Trent and three sisters: Carol Wilson, Edyth Gamet, and Lola Kirchhevel. Christian Wake Service will be held 7:00 pm, Thursday, September 10 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard. Christian Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Friday, September 11 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4500 Jackson Boulevard with Rev. Grant Gerlach officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Rapid City.
