Obituary

Wellton, Arizona - Ivan A Kris Kristensen, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2009, at 6:09 pm at his home in Wellton, Arizona. Born on June 14, 1916, to Christian Martin and Anne (Issacson) Kristensen in Midland, South Dakota., He was the last of eight children. Ivan is survived by his wife, Jeanette Hicks of Wellton, his sons, Gerald (Beverly) Kristensen of Fontana, CA, and Daryl Kristensen of Palm City, FL, his daughters, Betty Clarke of Wichita, KS and Kay (George) Crum of Mishawaka, IN, a brother, Raymond Kristensen, Frankfort, IN, eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Ivan worked as a salesman most of his life and dedicated himself to several fraternal organizations Moose Lodge, Elks Club, Sertoma Club. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge attaining the 33rd degree, the Shriners of North America and the Scottish Rite. He loved life, loved to travel and dedicated himself to helping others and as a caregiver. His later years were spent traveling the United States and Canada connecting with all the people he had befriended throughout his life. Ivan was preceeded in death by his parents, six of his siblings, wife and mother of his children, Helen (Stine) Kristensen, a son, James Kristensen, a granddaughter, Lynnette Clarke and a son-in-law, Douglas Clarke. A memorial service will be held in Rapid City, SD on October 24, 2009, at the Osheim-Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Blvd. Friends and family may call at 10:00 am at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 11:00 am, followed by a celebration of life family sharing time. Interment will be at the Lakeside Cemetery, near Wicksville, SD. All attending the service are welcome to join the family for a shared meal at the Wicksville Community Church, Owanka, SD, following a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, all charitable donations and gifts will be given to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Travel Fund or Hospice of the Hills.
