Obituary

John B (Jack) Primm (94) passed away at Westhills Village on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Jack was born on Jan. 23, 1920 in Dixon, SD and grew up in Gregory, SD. He was a WWII veteran of the US Navy. Following the war, he moved to Rapid City and worked for Buckingham Transportation for 20 years, rising to be the Executive Vice President for Operations. He was then hired by Santa Fe Industries to supervise heavy equipment logistics and construction in Saigon, South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Later he was transferred to the Middle East and supervised construction operations in Saudi Arabia, Iran and Bahrain. He retired in 1977 and returned to Rapid City. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Lee Primm and Ena M. Francis (Fillbach) Primm, his sister, Elizabeth Jane Primm, his wife, Marlys (Martin) Primm, and his daughter, Vicki Halbur. Survivors include his children, Richard (Marilyn) Primm of Guadalajara, Mexico, Barbara (Thomas) Kreer of Lebanon, IL, and Jay (Betty) Primm of Lafayette, CO; his sister, Natalie Kurz of LaVergne, TN, and his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. There will be no services. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life. Burial will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
