CUSTER --Jack Donald Ross of Custer, SD passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. Jack Donald Ross was born February 3, 1928 to Fred and Floy Ross in Rapid City, SD. He grew up and received his education in Hill City. He served in the US Navy from 1945-1949. He married Lavonia Swain in 1949. They had two children, Jackie (Olsen) and Marc. In 1959 he married Earlene Allgier (Poysnick). They had one daughter Tammy (Capicotto). Jack worked in various fields of construction, welding, mechanic, and operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children: Deanna (Wally) Hughes of Buffalo, WY, David (Cindy) Poysnick of Puyallup, WA, Jackie (Dwane) Olsen of Rapid City, Marc (Tamela) Ross of Hill City, SD, Karen Harding and Tammy (Randy) Capicotto of Gillette, WY; brothers: Bud and Louis Ross, sister Patty (Lonnie) Feddersen all of Hill City; special friend Vaneta Meske of Custer; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Earlene, and sister Zane Young. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 22, from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon at the Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at the Hill City Cemetery with Rev. Ron Walker officiating. Military honors will be provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273 and the South Dakota National Guard.
