Obituary

Jackie Louise Ross Olesen: Died June 12, 2016

Jackie was born in Deadwood SD on December 16th 1949 to Jack Donald and Lavonia Hope (Swain) Ross. Jackie and her little brother Marc spent their child hood living in California with their Mother Lavonia and in Hill City SD with their Grandparents Fred and Floy Ross and Father Jack.

Jackie spent her life in service to others. During her adult years in California she managed a chain of California 6 Motels and maintained the highest standards of customer service. In 1988 Jackie made the decision to move back home to Hill City SD to help take care of her Grandmother Floy Ross in her time of need. Jackie was then hired as the head of housekeeping at the Best Western Golden Spike in Hill City SD and was also a server at Harney Lounge and Garbanzos in Hill City SD. Jackie moved on to Marlin's Restaurant (formerly the Wind Mill) and retired from there in 2014.

Jackie met Duane Olesen, the love of her life and they married on September 5th 1998 and moved to their property North of Rapid City SD, which Jackie fondly called "The little house on the prairie." Their home was a home of love and kindness and because Jackie and Duane had hearts of gold they welcomed Jackie's seven year old niece and five year old nephew in to their home and raised them as their own and eventually gave Jackie and Marc' mother Lavonia a loving home.

In March of 2016 our beloved Jackie was diagnosed with cancer. Her infectious laugh and sense of humor will be missed. Jackie accepted Christ in to her heart was baptized and was secure with the knowledge of her eternal salvation. Rest easy honey, it is your turn to be taken care of now.
