RAPID CITY – James A. "Jim" Ackerman, 57, died Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Jim was born October 12, 1966 in Rapid City to Alvin and Alice (Speidel) Ackerman. He attended New Underwood Schools and also VoTech. Jim worked for the Rapid City Journal doing route delivery around the Black Hills. He also worked for a commercial cleaning company. During this job, he met the love of his life, Janice Schiefer while working on floors at the East Side Family Fare. Jim married Janice on December 12, 1996 in Rapid City.

He enjoyed fishing, camping and BBQing. Jim was an avid fan of the Las Vegas Raiders (formerly known as the Oakland Raiders). He loved road trips and also driving around the hills to look at the scenery. Most of all, Jim loved spending time with Janice.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Janice Ackerman, Rapid City; sister, Karen Julius, Rapid City; nephew, Curtis Julius and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the Bell Park Cemetery in Rochford.
