Obituary

RAPID CITY--God had better plans for James Bellamy Young and called him home on September 6, 2008. J.B., 46, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He lived his too short life to the fullest. He was a loving father, devoted son and brother, and good friend to many. J.B. made his living as an insurance agent for the Horace Mann Company but made his life an adventure. He was an outstanding skier and accomplished sailor investing time with his friends and family at the ski area or the lakes. J.B. left Rapid City to work throughout the mountain west with good friends counting those earliest vagabond years seismology, railroading and surveying, among the best of his life. He returned to Rapid City and along with his friends and family built his own home and helped friends with their homes. J.B. enjoyed riding his motorcycle, golfing, and spending time with family. He was proud of his work with Horace Mann and dedicated to the teachers he served. J.B. is survived by his two daughters Janelle Bethany Young and Nicole Marie Crosswhite and her husband Sequoia and their children, Eleigh, Lila and Sequoia James, all of Rapid City; father Marshall Young and his wife Brenda, Rapid City; mother Elizabeth Young-Huff and her husband Jim, Rapid City; sister Trilby Christopher, husband Kelley their boys Marshall and Owen, Las Vegas; brother William Young with his soon to be arriving daughter Kathryn Elizabeth who is expected on her Uncle J.B.'s 47th birthday Sept. 14, Rapid City; best friends Tim Fitzgerald and Kevin Hoffman Rapid City; and his love Michelle Bezpaletz, Rapid City. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, September 10 at 3 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Meadowbrook Golf Course. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with the Rapid City Public School Foundation.
