IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Lawrence
Bloom
May 2, 1945 – December 8, 2024
James "Jim" Lawrence Bloom, a devoted family man known for his unwavering work ethic, passed away on December 8, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on May 2, 1945, Jim grew up in Rapid City, where he attended Catholic schools through high school. He continued his education at St. John's University near St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved parents Mary Agnes and Lawrence and his wife, Carol. He is survived by his brother John and his sisters Francis, Carol and Maureen. He is also survived by his two sons, Jeff and David (Sarah), and his two granddaughters, Grace and Dakota.
Jim's life was defined by his tireless dedication to both his family and his work. Over the years, he held numerous jobs, often balancing two roles at once. His career included working as a gas station manager, a convenience store worker, a sanitation department employee, and a human resources professional, where he wrote job descriptions. Jim also served with the U.S. Postal Service, delivering mail to the communities of Rockerville, Keystone, and Silver City. He even took on janitorial work to provide for his family.
Despite his busy schedule, Jim made time for the things he loved. He enjoyed watching movies, bowling, writing, singing, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his loved ones. His faith was a central part of his life, and he found great joy in learning about God.
A memorial visitation celebrating Jim's life will be held on December 27, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
