James “Jamey” P. Brunsch was born July 7, 1967 in Martin, SD to Laurette Pourier and James P. Brunsch Sr. He was surrounded by loved ones when he made his journey to the Lord on Sunday, June 21st, 2026 at the age of 58.

After graduating from Wall High School in 1985, Jamey enlisted in the US Navy (1986) where he traveled the world as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Aircrewman. Once separating from the military in 1992, Jamey went on to earn his degree in Electrical Engineering Technology at Southern Illinois University. After starting his family in San Diego, Jamey returned to South Dakota to continue growing his family and legacy. In 2001, Jamey founded Memsense LLC where he was able to continue his passion of design and engineering.

Throughout life, Jamey loved team roping, mountain biking, running, blasting his music, dancing, hiking, building (literally anything), spending time outdoors, and most importantly being with family. Many would describe Jamey as loving, compassionate, witty, hardworking, gearhead, jokester, fearless, brilliant, generous, and empathetic.

Jamey is survived by his loving wife, Tara and their children, Cade (Makayla), Kalena, Kayli, Logan (Amelia), America (Zack), Zach, Brock, and Tack. His memory lives on in his grandchildren, Mabel, Opal, Hazel, Boaz, Jamison, Rayel, Estelle, Laweson, Kade, and Silas.

Jamey is remembered by his father, Jim (Jill), father and mother in-law Mel and Beth, as well as his siblings, Tawney, Chad (Crystal), Grady (Kalee), Hayley, Jaimee (Neil), Katie, and Grant. He will also be remembered by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jamey is preceded in death by his late wife, Karen; his mom, Laurette; his uncle, Jack; grandparents, and many other loved ones.

Lunch will be served following the burial services at the New Underwood High School
