BLACK HAWK--James Boyd Morris, 53 of Black Hawk died suddenly on Wednesday July 1st, 2009 while on a jobsite in Spearfish. Jim was born to J.B. and Mary Morris in Pierre, SD on July 24, 1955. Jim attended and graduated from Lead High School. After high school Jim went to work for his brother in Pierre at Morris, Inc. Morris, Inc. later moved a branch to Rapid City where James continued to manage. Jim currently operated Mainline Contracting in Rapid City. Jim married Janna Pfister on August 7, 1993, and they built a home in Black Hawk where they raised 4 children. Jim enjoyed his work very much and was very close to his co-workers. Jim had a special passion for meeting people and sharing common interests. A strong handshake, a "how ya doing", and Jim had a new friend. Jim truly felt that everyday was a day that could be lived to its fullest and something could be done better than it was the day before. "Treat people right and they will treat you right" is how Jim felt about his fellow man. Jim loved all of his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Jim was a devoted friend, father, and husband. Jim spent his free time coaching and watching his children play sports, riding his mule, hunting of all kinds, camping, packing, and riding his motorcycles. No hobby ever got in the way of Jim's ability to express his love for his children and his devotion towards teaching them to be self reliant and good citizens. Whether restoring an old Corvette, riding his mule, or spending time in his gun room getting that last detail just right, one never wondered if Jim had a desire to live life to the absolute fullest. Jim will be missed immensely by his family, friends, employees, and partners. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Carl.
