RAPID CITY - James "Jim" M. Brenner, 68, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Monument Health - Rapid City Hospital.
James was born in Manhattan, New York to George and Gloria (Velkoff) Brenner and raised in Amityville, NY. He attended college in North Dakota where he received his bachelor's degree in business. He worked most of his career with Sturdevant's Auto Parts in Wahpeton, North Dakota.
During this time, he started building his family, including three wonderful children; Amber, Jarrett, and Whitney. Over the years he continued to build a life that included his girlfriend Cecelia and her son Ricky. For the last year he has enjoyed living life to the fullest, sharing each moment with his significant other Carolyn.
From his youth he had such a passion and love for sports which he later passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was a personable man who could strike up a conversation and befriend anyone. He especially had a heart for helping kids and was a devoted supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital. He was a devoted father and grandfather, attending every birthday party, sporting and school event, and doing everything he could to support his children and grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son Jarrett Brenner, brother George Brenner, sister Christine Brenner, step-brother Chuck Tewksbury and his significant other, Cecelia Kirchoffner.
He is survived by his children, Amber Cornford (Raymond), Whitney Fredekind (Tyler), step-son, Richard Zentz (Jennifer), significant other, Carolyn Harris, his brother John Brenner (Carlos Tepox-Dominguez), step-brother Craig Tewksbury (Donna), step-sister Cynthia Caudle (Ken), his grandchildren; Casen Thomas, Nora Cornford, Jacksen Fredekind, Nolan Cornford, Joselyn Fredekind, Owen Cornford, Edith Cornford and Elouise Cornford. Also he will be missed by his beloved Yorkie; Sophie Mae BK 21 Silky Bear the Destroyer.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, October 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Crossroads Wesleyan Church. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the funeral at church.
