Obituary

Rapid City James A. Veazey, 60, Rapid City, died Monday, January 18, 2010 at his residence. He was born on November 8, 1949, in St. Louis, MO to William Ellsworth and Bettie Duke (Johann) Veazey. He received his B. S. from the University of Missouri and his Masters Degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He served at nine different bases as in the U. S. Air Force from 1971 to 1991 and retired as a Major. James was united in marriage to Pam Wessler in 1971. After his retirement from the Air Force, James was employed at Spiegel and with the Motor Carrier Enforcement Division of the Highway Patrol at the Tilford Station. Survivors include his wife, Pam Veazey, Rapid City; a daughter, Heather (David) Jenner, Rapid City; his son, Chris (Tracie) Veazey, Rapid City; five grandchildren, Max, Anna and Jack Veazey and Andrew and Wesley Jenner and a sister, Katherine Wagner, Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ed Veazey. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Kathy Monson-Lutes presiding. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Black Hills National Cemetery, with military honors provided by Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice. Services are under the direction of Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
