Obituary

RAPID CITY- Janet M. Feehan, age 92, died peacefully in her sleep, November 5, 2017, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Born July 1, 1925 to Louise (nee Leonard) and Vincent English in Cascade, Iowa.

A graduate of St. Martin's High School in 1943, she was a member of the Girl's Diocesan Basketball Team. In 1946 she earned her R.N. at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. She accepted nursing positions at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, St Elizabeth's Hospital, New York and Mercy and St. Anthony's in Denver, Colorado.

She married Dr. John J. Feehan Jr. in Denver, Colorado, June 3, 1948 and moved to Rapid City in 1951.

Janet was active in the Catholic Daughters of America and the Medical Auxiliary.  She started swimming lessons at the age of 59.  Janet was always a cheerleader of her children and grandchildren's school and sporting activities. Janet enjoyed knitting, sewing, music and reading.  She produced an afghan for each of her children and grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, grandson Christopher, sisters Margie and Joan and brothers Bob and Herb.

Surviving Janet are her children, Pat (Joyce) Feehan, Lake Zurich, IL, John (Pam) Feehan, Rapid City, Mary Jo (Doug) Flockhart, Northfield, MN, Jim Feehan, Rapid City and Barb Feehan Haily, ID.; a brother John, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Janet will be missed by everyone who ever had the pleasure to meet her.  A memorial service and graveside service at Black Hills National Cemetery will be held in June.  A notice of that event will be provided closer to that time.
