Janet A. Hubbeling, 82, of Rapid City, died on the evening of Friday, May 15, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House in Rapid City. Visitation will be on Monday, May 25, at Blessed Sacrament Church, from 3-5 p.m. with a Rosary recitation at 4:45 p.m. and Christian wake service at 5 p.m. A Christian funeral mass will be offered on Tuesday, May 26, at 10 a.m. with Father Brian Lane presiding. Mass will be followed by lunch at Blessed Sacrament Church Parish Hall. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Mt. View cemetery in Rapid City. Janet was born June 11, 1932, in Rapid City to Arthur A. and Teresa A. (Kammerer) Lees. She graduated from Rapid City High School in 1950. She received a full academic scholarship to attend St. Catherine's College in St. Paul, MN. She returned to Rapid City to work at the office of the US Geological Survey. On June 4, 1955, Janet was united in marriage to Edwin Lewis Hubbeling at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Rapid City. The couple resided in Fort Dodge, IA and Eau Claire, WI prior to returning to reside permanently in Rapid City in 1965. For 12 years she managed Kustom Kraft-the family-owned black walnut manufacturing company in Edgemont. She then served as Volunteer Coordinator at Blessed Sacrament Church until her retirement. Janet was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and was active in the Catholic Daughters of American. She was an honored member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for eight years. She was an avid Master Gardner and a member/Past-President of the Minnilusa Historical Association. She is survived by her husband, Edwin L. Hubbeling, Sr.; four sons, Edwin Hubbeling, Jr., (Cheryl) Rapid City, James Hubbeling, (Sandi), Port Orchard, WA, and Joseph Hubbeling, (Wendy), and Charles Hubbeling, (Julie Brockway), both of Fort Collins, CO; two daughters, Laura McClanahan (Michael), and Mary Larkin (Daniel), both of Minneapolis, MN; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, James A. Lees. A memorial has been established.
