RAPID CITY- Janice Burcham passed away on August 18, 2012. She was born in Ponca, Nebraska to Emil and Lydia Schoenrock on November 2, 1938. Raised in a farming community, Janice graduated from Allen High School in Allen, Nebraska in 1956. While on vacation in 1958, visiting her brother Emil in Orlando, Florida, she met a young Air Force Airman who caught her eye and her heart. Janice married Jerry Burcham on April 28, 1959 in Orlando. Jerry transferred to the Army in 1961. He attended Officer's Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia in 1963. Daughter Angela Gail was born on January 18, 1961. Son Scott Lee was born on July 20, 1964. Janice and Jerry made their home in Rapid City after Jerry retired from the Army in June, 1977. Janice worked at Landstrom's Black Hills Gold for a number of years. From 1984 on, Janice was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Burcham, Rapid City; son, Scott (Renee) Burcham, Rapid City; daughter, Angela Burcham, Eden Prairie, MN; two brothers, Emil Schoenrock and Raymond Schoenrock; and three grandchildren: Robyn, Jesse, and Samantha. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Calvary Lutheran Church (5311 Sheridan Lake Road) in the Dakota Chapel with Rev. Herb B. Cleveland officiating. Interment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
