Janice Pfaff Grisel, aged 79, passed away on August 2, 2024, at Hospice House in Rapid City, SD. Born on July 25, 1945, in Isabel, SD, to Adolph Pfaff and Elsie Stelzer Pfaff.

In 1967, Janice married Matthew McGrath, and together they raised three children: Robert, Leigh, and Mindy. Janice made the holidays special for her children with cherished traditions that created lasting memories.

In her 40s after her divorce, Janice defied the odds and embarked on a new journey, demonstrating dedication to caring for others by becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She started and ended her career serving veterans at the VA Hospital in Sturgis, SD, and also contributed her skills at Rapid City Regional Hospital and various skilled nursing facilities. Her determination and resilience were evident as she pursued this new path, impacting countless lives through her compassionate care.

Janice was greeted in heaven by her parents, Adolph and Elsie, her two infant sisters, bonus parents Eldon Rosander and Laverne Corwin, and bonus sister Gloria Lyons. Her faithful companion, Mia Dog, also awaited her in heaven.

Janice is survived by her three children, Robert McGrath of Sioux Falls, SD; Leigh (George) Nelson of Rapid City, SD; and Mindy (Oyvind) Haehre of Loveland, CO. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Carter Nelson, Delaney (Max) Nelson, Luke Nelson, Jakob Haehre, Dayana Haehre, Silje Haehre, and Moise Haehre.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6 at Atonement Lutheran Church with a luncheon to follow.  Burial will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
