Janice Lou Grow, 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 11, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Janny was born April 2, 1939 in Rapid City, the youngest child of Harold and Helen Whitaker. She was a graduate of Rapid City High School class of 1957 and attended the University of SD until her marriage to David Grow in 1958.

Janny engendered deep friendships wherever she went. She was an active member of the Historical Auto Club of the BH and was very talented at upholstering historical auto interiors. She enjoyed the Methodist Church and was active in the Methodist Women's Circle. Janice also supported the family business as needed as a bookkeeper for Whitaker and Mattson.

Janny's many passions included pottery, mahjong, cards, rock hunting, gardening, animals, and spending time with family and friends. She had a big heart and welcomed many who quickly became part of the family. She enjoyed trips with her close group of high school friends that she has maintained close relationships throughout the years.

Survivors include her brother Ren Whitaker of Fort Myers, FL; two sons, Jay Grow (Eileen) of Rapid City, and Jeff (Jenny) Grow of Newberg OR; two daughters Janna (Dan) Henrichs of Blackhawk, and Jodi (Reese) Kor of Piedmont; eleven grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband David Grow, father Harold Whitaker, and her mother and step father, Helen and Emil Wiese.

The Church Celebration service will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 at 11 AM with lunch to follow at Hillsview Evangelical Free Church in Piedmont.

The Burial Service will be 3:00 pm Friday, August 16, 2024 at Mt. View Cemetery in Rapid City.
