RAPID CITY - Jay Henry Lohrengel, 58, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Monument Health Home+ Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.

Jay was born March 16, 1965 to Robert and Assimo Lohrengel in Lompoc, California.  Later, moving to Las Vegas, NV where he spent many years.  He graduated from Clark High School in 1984 and found his career spanning the next 34 years as a pool technician from which he retired.

Jay loved the outdoors and shared this love and his experiences as a Scout leader for 15 years.  He particularly enjoyed scout campouts, fishing, cooking and seeing the scouts rise to the level of Eagle Scout.  Later in life he took to gardening, continuing to spend his time outdoors.  Jay was also active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He is survived by his wife Charlene Lohrengel of Rapid City, SD, his son, Jacob Lohrengel of Salt Lake City, UT, sisters Joanne Hurley and Charlene Geary of South Dakota and his brother JJ Samavarchian of Virginia, his step-father Jalil Samavarchian as well as three nieces and four nephews.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life is to be held on Jay's birthday, 2:00pm March 16, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 2822 Canyon Lake Drive in Rapid City.
