Rapid City – Jay Brian Wempe, 59, died Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital of natural causes.

Jay was born to Virgil and Patricia Wempe in Rapid City, SD on May 6, 1964, where he was raised with his siblings: Jim, Joe, and Nicki.

He joined the Fisher Beverage family in October of 1994 and continued to work there as a draft technician until his death.

If Jay wasn't at work, he could be found enjoying life to the fullest: shooting darts & pool, bowling, rounds of golf, traveling, skydiving, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. He also loved to spend time with his kids: Ashley Brunmaier of Rapid City and Garrett (Brittney) Brunmaier of Mitchell, SD; grandchildren: Anthony Brunmaier, Alexandria Brunmaier, and Alice Brunmaier all of Aberdeen, SD; great-grandson: Radley Brunmaier of Aberdeen, SD. Also surviving are his brother James Wempe and his sister Nicki Wempe and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Joe Wempe.

His Memorial Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Friday, March 1, 2024 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with his Celebration of Life Memorial Service to start at 6:00 pm. There will be a Reception Gathering after the Service.
