Obituary

RAPID CITY | Jean Monnot died Feb. 1, 2017, at home. She was 79.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Monnot Sr.; her sister, Gladys Clark; and her son, Michael Driver.

She is survived by and her daughter, Lois Smith and her husband Dale; her son, James Wenzel Driver; her daughter, Vicky Jean Driver; her daughter, Cynthia Pauline Tanoos and her husband Keith; her son, Jerald Wade Driver and his wife Patricia Ann and her son, Roy Monnot Jr. and his wife Audrey. She was also an awesome grandma to 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who loved her very much.

Irma Jean Rutledge was born on June 5, 1939, in Montgomery, AL. Jean volunteered at the American Legion Auxiliary Post 315 as President and countless other duties for 26 years. She retired from the Air Base Exchange after 26 years with the title of Store Manager. But her greatest passion was working with the vets at the Black Hills Veterans Hospital. She gave her all. She was a patriot! She was well-loved and will be sorely missed.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m., with 6 p.m. Christian wake services Monday, Feb. 6, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. Brian Lane presiding. A luncheon will follow mass. Interment will be at 1 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. There will be a potluck at 4 p.m. at Post 315 in Box Elder to celebrate Jean's life.
