Rapid City – Jeavene "Bena" Marie Running Shield, 60, entered the Spirit World on Monday, July 4, 2022 at Monument Health Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Her Visitation and Wake Service will begin at 4:00 pm Thursday, July 14 at On Common Ground, 610 Saint Francis Street, Rapid City.

Her Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, July 15 at On Common Ground.

Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

A meal will follow the burial at On Common Ground.

Jeavene was born December 30, 1961 in Rapid City, SD to Earlwin and Rebecca {Solano} Rencountre. She married Louis Anthony Running Shield, Jr. on May 30, 1981 in Rapid City.

She was a housekeeper at hotels in Rapid City, worked a SCI, bartender, and most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had many friends who called her mom and she took them in as her own and later when they had kids of their own, they called her grandma. She was caring, respectful, trustworthy, loyal, helpful, and kind.

She is survived by her husband: Louis Running Shield Jr., two sons: Louis "Yamni" Running Shield III and Antonio "Tony" Running Shield; two daughters: Betsy Lucille Running Shield and Lorraine Prairie Chicken; three brothers: Charles Rencountre, Roy Rencountre, and Francis Rencountre; one sister: Adele Dougherty; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jim and brother David.
