RAPID CITY- Jerry C. Johnson passed away February 14, 2014 with family at his side after a short battle with cancer at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House. Jerry was born on the 11th of December, 1940 in Rock Island, Illinois to Lester H. Sr., and Ruth Johnson. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School and then later attended Northern State University. In college he met his wife, Darleys Aloise Dennert. They were married June 30, 1963 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia, South Dakota. Together they had two children, Paul and Melissa. During his life, Jerry was in a partnership with Tiffany Laundry, Dry Cleaners and Fur Storage as well as Servall Towel and Linen Supply. After retiring, he and Darleys moved to the Black Hills. There, together with their children, they ran the Keystone Country Store. After the passing of his wife, the business was sold and Jerry turned his hobby of carpentry into a career. He enjoyed the work up until he became ill. He enjoyed being outdoors and being with family. His pride and joy was his granddaughter, Tiffany. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Darleys A. (Dennert) Johnson and daughter Melissa A. (Johnson) Kirchgesler. He is survived by his brother Lester "Bill" Johnson, Jr. of Shreveport, LA., his son Paul (Melinda) Johnson of Hermosa, his granddaughter Tiffany Johnson of Rapid City, step-grandchildren Casey and Jennifer, and son-in-law Mark Kirchgesler of Hermosa. A memorial has been established for St. Michael's Catholic Church Building Fund in Hermosa. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday February 18, 2014 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Pastor Diane Janssen Hemmen officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Keystone.
