Rapid City – Jerry Wendland, 77, died Saturday, December 14, 2024 at his residence.

Jerry James Wendland was born Monday, December 30, 1946 in Mobridge, SD to Henry and Elizabeth (Steiger) Wendland. He grew to adulthood and attended high school at Hot Springs, SD, graduating in 1965. He then attended Lake Area Vo-Tech in Watertown, SD and studied architecture and graduated.

He married LaVonne Marie Hunt on May 2, 1969 in Watertown, SD. They moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked for an architectural firm. They then moved to Rapid City and Jerry worked for Fisk Engineering until 1989, when he then owned an operated his own land surveying company called Angle Surveys.

LaVonne died May 3, 2020 and Jerry continued to live in the area.

Survivors include one son: Richard James (Maura) Wendland of Olatha, Kansas; one daughter: Lori Ann Wendland of Rapid City; one grandson: Tony (Dawn) Bear; three great-grandchildren: Kassidy, Kolton, and Kaysen; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife LaVonne, and 4 brothers: Arle, Loren, Don, and Dane.

Graveside Burial Services will be held at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City.
