Deadwood – Jimmie Brents, 79, died Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.

Jimmie Allen Brents was born May 7th, 1947 in San Diego, CA to James Weldon Brents and Sarah Francis (Woodley) Neff. Jimmie joined the Air Force as a young man and served 23 years of Active Duty as a flight line crew chief. He retired as a master sergeant.

Jimmie married Verlyn (Orelup) Brents, whom he met while she was managing a video store on Ellsworth Air Force Base. Together they shared almost 34 years of marriage before she passed in August 2024.

As proud as Jimmie was of his military service, he was even more proud of his children. He is survived by his five children: Jaime Brents, Robert Brents (DeeAnne), Shawn Brents, Chad Brents (Ali), Sarah Brents (Brian) and two step-children: Jason Orelup (Kris) and Todd Orelup. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Jimmie also has two sisters: Dr. Tina Brents-Barnhart and Kimberly Brents.

Jimmie had a passion for restoring cars and deal making. He had a big heart and limitless compassion for his fellow man. Neighbors could always count on him in an emergency.

Friends and Family are invited to a Memorial Service at 10 am on Friday, June 26th, 2026 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. There will be another service for military honors at Black Hills National Cemetery later that day at 1:30 pm.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Kevin Neff and Dessal Neff; and one sister: Debra Ellen Brents.
