Jo Anne Boken, age 70, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, May 24, 2024. She was born October 12, 1953 in Montana, to Orin and Lois, with her three younger brothers, Bruce, Russell, and Mark. She gave birth to her first daughter, Melanie, in 1976 with her first husband, Robert, in California. She later remarried in 1988 to Dennis Boken, where she later gave birth to her second daughter, Ashley, in 1989, in South Dakota.

She dedicated many years to the Dusek Building working as a landlord, where she met many colorful and wonderful people who became fond friends.

Jo Anne was a devoted believer in God, and felt it her duty to serve Him in many ways. She was always there to lend a listening ear and to help anyone in any way she was able. She helped create gorgeous sceneries for Christmas displays and various plays at Ashley's school. She found it a joy to make  little crafts for teachers and friends, in an effort to brighten someone's day. In her later years, she created beautiful wreaths for family and friends to display in their homes.

Jo Anne found great joy in her family, which included her grandchildren, Chandlor, Ryker, and Meadow.

Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Jo Anne are invited to attend a service in her honor at Black Hills National Cemetery. If interested, please meet at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, Rapid City, SD 57702, on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. to follow a procession to Black Hills National Cemetery.
