Joan Beverly Caldwell 86 of Baker, MT formerly of Rapid City passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 at Fallon County Medical Complex in Baker.

Joan was born March 16, 1933 in Elizabeth, CO to Paul E. and Caren Mae (Peterson) Hummell. She graduated in 1951 from Beatrice High School, Beatrice, NE. Attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, NE and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1957. On December 27, 1957 she married Allen H. Caldwell and to this union three children were born Caren Joan Hass, Melanie Ann Espinosa, and Gregory Allen Caldwell.

Joan taught school in Sidney, NE, Omaha, NE, Worland, WY, Browning, MT, Sells, AZ, Ft. Duchesne, UT, Rosebud, SD, Valentine, NE, Billings County Schools, ND. She was a member of Dela Kappa Gamma Honor Society and served as the State Resource Chair. She was initiated into the order of Eastern Star, in Browning, MT, was Worthy Matron in South Dakota and Dickinson, ND, and as also District Deputy in North Dakota. She was initiated into the Daughters of the Nile, Ismah Temple 119 in Deadwood, SD, and the Queen Daughter of the Nile in 1995. She was a member of Heart Ranch Camping Resort and worked in the activities department. As a full timer traveled and attended many RV conventions and saw many states. She enjoyed taking cruises to Hawaii, Sandals Resorts in Jamaica, Mexican Riviera, Panama Canal, Mexico Copper Canyon.

Joan is survived by her daughters; Caren (Dean) Hass, Melanie (Delbert) Espinosa, daughter-in-law; Theresa Caldwell,10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband Allen, son Gregory, and her parents.
