Obituary

Joann Albrecht Hilton, 72, died at the Desert Regional Medical Center, Palm Springs California, March 11,2008. Joann was born at New Underwood, SD on January 11, 1936, the daughter of Howard E. and Loretta (Colling) Oldfield. She grew up in Rapid City and graduated from the Cathedral High School. She married Jim Albrecht on January 7, 1954, in Rapid City. Jim and Joann owned and operated the Coin-O-Matic and Wheel Estates Mobile Home Park in Rapid City. Jim died unexpectedly on February 28, 1978. Joann remained in Rapid City following her husband's death and continued to be actively involved in the management of the Coin-O-Matic and Wheel Estates Mobile Home Park. She married Jim Hilton on May 30, 1987, in Rapid City. The couple have spent their winter months in Palm Springs, CA for the past number of years. Joann was a member of the Elks Ladies Golf Association in Rapid City. She was also a member of the "No Hat Society" in Rapid City. She was a person who loved life. She loved to "live, love and laugh." Survivors include her husband, Jim Hilton, Rapid City; a daughter, Kim Cook, Rapid City; a brother, Bill Oldfield, Gillette, WY; grandchildren, Bethany Mears and her husband Trenton, Rapid City, Stephanie Cook, Akron, OH Reed Hilton, Boulder, CO, Zach Wald, Laramie, WY and Max Wald, Rapid City; step-children, Mike Hilton, Bishop, CA, Tim Hilton and his wife Dawn, Monument, CA and Cindy Wald and her husband Steve, Rapid City. A reception/visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Blvd. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21, at the Church of St. Therese, the Little Flower, 532 Adams St., with Rev. Dan Juelfs officiating. Inurnment will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park. A memorial has been established for the Breast Cancer Fund in Rapid City.
