Obituary

Joanne G. Felkins 81 of Rapid City died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at her home.

A private graveside service was held on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City, with Rev. Brent Woodard officiating.

Joanne was born November 1, 1938 in Haines, AK to John and Esther (Maki) Erbland. On February 25, 1958 she married Charles F. Felkins.

Joanne loved dogs and cats, especially wolves.  Over the years raised 4 wolf hybrids.    Had two turtles for over 15 years.  Loved to travel and go camping. Over the years she and family lived in Seattle, WA, Milpitas, CA, Cheyenne, WY, Rapid City, SD, Sedalia, MO, Lompoc, CA, San Jose, CA, Medford, OR, Santa Cruz, CA, Longmont, CO, Boulder, CO, Berthoud, CO, Rantoul, IL, and Truckee, CA. Traveled as a tourist in 45 of the 50 states, and made five vacation trips to Alaska.

Joanne had a love for learning and obtained an AA degree from junior college.  Took many additional courses in many disciplines. Had many part-time jobs to help out the family, but really liked her full-time jobs of Technical Documentation clerk. Her main passion though was being involved with her family.
