Rapid City – Joe L. Herrera, 80, Rapid City, died at a Rapid City Nursing Home, on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.

He was born at Newell, SD on November 30, 1935, the son of Joe and Maria [Ocana] Herrera.  Joe lived in Rapid City and had been employed by the Merrilat Company and Stanley Johnson Construction.

He is survived by his wife Eva Herrera; seven children: Dick Schmidt of Las Vegas, NV, Darin Herrera of Ohio, Leslie Stephens, Debra Myers, William Herrera, Selina Herrera, and Karen Sinclair all of Rapid City, seven siblings:  Rory Landers, Bill Herrera, Art Herrera, Merle Herrera, Lee Herrera, Carmen Martinez, and Ester Tripplet. He is also survived by six step-children, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sharon Herrera, a brother Ben Herrera, and a stepson Dan.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 30 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

Services will be at 10:30 am Thursday, March 31 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. Michel Mulloy presiding.

Interment will be at the Mt. View Cemetery in Rapid City.
