Rapid City-John Patrick Atwater died Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital-Hospice of the Hills. Survivors include his wife: Margarita C. Atwater of Rapid City; two step-daughters: Susan J. Hoopes of Stockton, CA and Cynthia M. [Robert] Akers of Rapid City; and three step-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his mother, one brother, and one sister. John served in the United States Armed Forces for 30 years. He had been employed as a supervisor with the Nevada State Parks Department for many years. John will be cremated and there are no services scheduled at this time.
