RAPID CITY- John Elven Deily, 85, of Rapid City, died Tuesday, at his home. He was born November 10, 1929 in Rapid City to Louis and Elvena Deily. John was married to Norma Rouse on January 20th, 1951 and had six children. As a longtime member of the Rapid City community, John was knowledgeable about Rapid City. Both John's Dad and he were businessmen in Rapid City. John worked as an accountant for Amick Sound and Barton's Masonry. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus in his early years and was a veteran from the Korean War. John's most favorite moments were with his wife, children, and grandchildren at Gordon's Gulch or at home. John enjoyed watching golf and football. John's love for family and faith made him the kind and humble man he was. Survivors include three children; Johnadee (Randy) Matzke; Charlotte, NC; Jackie (Bret) Swanson, Pueblo, Colorado; and Jeff Deily of Rapid City; seven grandchildren and 9 1/2 great grandchildren. Rosary services will be at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Rev. Ed Vanorny presiding. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City with full military honors by the Rushmore VFW Post 1273 and the South Dakota Army National Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
