BOX ELDER--John L. Hughley, 69, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Saturday, March 29, 2008, as a result of complications from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on December 10, 2007. John was born on October 18, 1938, in Deer Lodge, MT; his parents were Gerald and Margaret (Metcalf) Hughley. John was united in marriage to Dee Hughley on March 26, 1959. John served in the U. S. Navy and U. S. Air Force and retired from the Air Force as a Tech Sergeant in 1977. He then worked at the Post Office, retiring in 2006. John was a member of the Box Elder Lions and enjoyed bowling at Meadowood Lanes. He also enjoyed spending time with his extended family at the Rodeway Inn and attending the activities of his 8 grandchildren. Survivors include his four daughters, Sherry Crofut and her husband Mike, Rapid City and their 3 sons, Chris, Tony and Jamie LaCroix; Michelle Price and her husband Mark, Rapid City, and their 2 daughters, Kristen and Alyssa Price; April Stangl, Fuquay-Varina, NC, and her son, Nick Stangl; and Shawna Kneebone and her husband Mike, Box Elder, and their children, Brittany and Brandon Kneebone. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dee, in December of 2007. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Blvd. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, with Father Dan Juelfs officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard, will follow in Black Hills National Cemetery.
