'Jack' Naeve

RAPID CITY- John Arnold "Jack" Naeve, 84, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Westhills Healthcare.
Jack was born July 22, 1932 in Hendricks, MN to Arnold and Marjorie (Hughes) Naeve.
At the age of five the family moved to Rapid City, where he attended school and graduated from Rapid City High School.
He began working for the Rapid City Journal as a paper boy, then in the Mailing Room, and finally taking a six year apprenticeship in the Mechanical Department. He was a supervisor for 16 years, working a total of 41 years for the Rapid City Journal.
He married Arlyce Vaught on July 10, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rapid City. To this union, three children: Mark, Alan, and Jaye Ann were adopted. He coached baseball and softball for many years and helped with other activities the children were in.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed camping with his wife and friends. He pulled his Fifth-wheel camper in every state except Florida and Louisiana.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Past Master of Rapid City #25 Masonic Lodge, member of the Naja Shrine Temple, and past member of York Rite and High Twelve.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and son, Alan.
He is survived by his wife, Arlyce; son, Mark; daughter, Jaye (Pat) Larsen, all of Rapid City; three granddaughters: Brianna Piek (Evan), CA; Sidney , Sioux Falls and Madison Larsen, Rapid City; two great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; daughter in law Kathleen Naeve, MN; three brothers: Dr. James Naeve, Coon Rapids, MN; Richard Naeve, Rapid City; and Dr. Don (Nancy) Naeve, Austin, TX; nieces and nephews and his special companion, Josie the black lab.
Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016
at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Wilbur Holz and Rev. LeRoy Flagstad officiating.
Burial will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Shrine Travel Fund for Children or a charity of your choice.
