RAPID CITY – John Alan Liebelt, 81, died on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.

John was born April 11, 1941, in Harvey, North Dakota to Edwin and Christine (Stauss) Liebelt. He was the second of three children. He graduated from Hansen Mechanical School.  He married Donna (Liebold) November 25,1966 in Harvey, North Dakota.

They moved to Rapid City, South Dakota in the spring of 1968, and were blessed with three children.

John worked at the Rapid City Parks Department until 1980. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and going to The Speedway.  He also enjoyed watching sports on television; his favorite teams were the Twins, Vikings, and Huskers.

He is survived by his wife Donna, daughters, Johnna (Mark) Miller of Norfolk, NE, and Debra (Irvin, Jr.) Wittmeier of Rapid City, and son, Allen Liebelt of Rapid City, along with ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; as well as his sister Karen Marter of Las Vegas, Nevada.  John is preceded in death by his parents and brother Gerald.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.   Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
