RAPID CITY- John D. West, 79, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. John was born on October 25, 1931. He is a 20 veteran of the Air Force, and was a long time resident of Box Elder. He left behind his loving wife of 54 years, Connie West, Rapid City; two sons, Frank (Dawn) Noble; John (Lola) West, both of Box Elder; 3 daughters, Donna (Richard) Merwin and Drena (John) Scroggs, both of Rapid City and Jeanne West, Box Elder; a brother, George West, Detroit, MI; a sister, Mary West, Detroit; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 4 until 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept., 2 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Dodie Anderson officiating. A private family burial will be at a later date.
