Joseph Victor Oukrop, 86, died Saturday, October 26.
He was born February 15, 1933 in Dickinson, North Dakota to Joe and Mary (Kudrna) Oukrop. He married Ann Anton on July 2, 1953. He enlisted in the service and attended Military Radar School. He served in the Korean War from 1953-1955. He was employed as a telephone repair technician until his retirement. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Civil Air Patrol where he assisted in search & rescues.
His hobbies included playing guitar & mandolin, woodworking, and building & flying RC airplanes.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann; sons: Wayne (Carrie) Laurel, MT; Sheldon (Nanette), Rapid City; daughter: Ardelia (Scott) Goff, Tyler, TX; five grandchildren: Alandra Oukrop, Callie (Brian) Lubinski, Calvin (Deidre) Schmalz, Kade (Leah) Schmalz, and Miranda Oukrop; seven great grandchildren; and 2 brothers.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2019 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with full military honors rendered by the Rushmore VFW Post 1273 and the South Dakota Army National Guard.
