Joycelyn Mae Henning was born in Kimball, Wisconsin, on April 1, 1927, to Eitel and Ethel (Comstock) Henning. She came to Oregon with her mother later that same year. They lived in Silverton OR and then Portland, where Joycelyn attended high school and business college.
She was introduced to her husband, Charles Erickson, while visiting South Dakota. They were married in Black Hawk Community Church on June 4, 1951. Joycelyn and Charles made their home on the Erickson Homestead Ranch near Black Hawk, South Dakota. They were longtime members of that community. Joycelyn enjoyed her church, her friends, and her life on the ranch. Rest In Peace, Mom.
Survivors include her son, Kirk Erickson; her daughter from a previous marriage, Sheryl Oldham; a granddaughter, Rachael Sauser; two great granddaughters, Courtney Piner and Sarah Sauser, and also a great great grandson, Evan Sauser. She was preceded by her husband, Charles in 1997 and by her grandson, Benjamin Oldham and great grandson, Justin Burger in separate accidents.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Black Hawk Community Church with Pastor Orin Covington officiating.
