Obituary

Judith Dianne Wilson, age 81, died January 27, 2024 in Abilene, Texas.  Judy was born November 2, 1942 to Bryan and Marian Keegan in Faith, SD.  She was raised in Whitewood and Sturgis and graduated from Sturgis High School.  She married Stanley Howe in Sturgis.  The couple divorced after the marriage produced 5 sons.

In 1972, she moved with her boys to Vermillion, SD to attend the University of South Dakota, graduating in 1976.  While she was a USD student and for years after, she was familiar to many people while working at the Prairie Lounge and Restaurant in Vermillion, Olson Medical Clinic, and at the University of South Dakota.

In 1985, she married James Wilson and welcomed his 6 children into her heart.  Jim and Judy spent many years together traveling as a truck driving team and then after retirement as full time "workcampers" in their RV, spending winters in the south and summers in northern states, at each location helping in the operation of the campgrounds.

As age slowed them down, they settled full time in Fredericksburg, Texas and helped operate the Oakwood RV Park there for many years.  Jim died in 2020 in Fredericksburg.  Judy moved to Abilene, Texas in 2022 to be nearer to family.

During retirement while in Fredericksburg, and continuing in Abilene, Judy took up a hobby, taking art classes and painting.  She produced many paintings, selling some and gifting others.  She won numerous awards for her artwork at art shows in or around Fredericksburg.  Judy enjoyed this new passion immensely, painting until her death, leaving several paintings unfinished.

Judy is survived by her 5 sons, Pat (Jeanette) Howe of Rapid City, SD; Andy (Rhonda) Howe of Wakonda, SD; Chris (Sarah) Howe of Abilene, TX; Matthew (Jennifer) Howe of South Bend, IN; and Steve (Mari) Howe of Albuquerque, NM; the Wilson kids: Mary (Jeff) Martin, Beth (Dave) Molitor, Lynn (Steve) Mulder, all of Sibley, IA, Kathy Wilson, George, IA, and Cora Wilson, Tyler, TX; 24 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bryan and Marian Keegan, her husband Jim Wilson, and her stepson Michael Wilson.

Jim and Judy had both requested no funeral services be held.
