RAPID CITY - Judy Kay Banes, 78, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Monument Health - Rapid City Hospital.  Judy was born August 23, 1944 in Horton, Kansas to Calvin and Alice (Pritcher) Plummer.   Later, she met the love of her life, Ed Banes and they were married December 4, 1965 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Together, they raised three children and were later blessed with six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  She was particularly proud of the accomplishments of all of them.  She and Ed enjoyed camping, fishing and attending car show functions along with her 1958 Chevy Impala (Even though she wished it was a convertible!).  Judy also adored dogs and especially puppies.  She was also fond of flowers, particularly iris', lilies, roses and daisy's.  Judy enjoyed feeding her family during and will be remembered for her chicken wings and shrimp that she made for them while watching football together.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Banes, children; Michelle Bowles (Ken), Troy Banes (Vickie) and Tara Banes.  Judy also leaves behind her loving grandchildren; Ashley, Kevin (Claire), Sammie (Casey), Kalvin (Brittany), Jesse and Jewel as well as her great-grandchildren; Leo, Henry, Melody, Eryka, Ariana and  Kenani.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Alice Plummer and her sister, Mary Jo Pritcher.

She was dearly loved and will always be remembered.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. to be held at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
