Rapid City – June Edith Jolley, 90, of Rapid City died Monday, June 27, 2022 at St. Martin Village-Serenity Place. She was born one of twin girls to George and Grace Huchendorf on April 26, 1932 in Brookings, SD. June graduated from Rapid City High School in 1950 and earned a Masters Degree in Sociology from Black Hills State University in 1977.
After high school her family moved to Silverson, Oregon. On August 2, 1952 she married Jim Aldren and together they operated the A & W Drive-in for 28 years in Sturgis, SD. During that time, she also worked as Activities Director at the Sturgis Nursing Home. In 1982 she moved to Sacramento, California where she worked for a title company delivering document. Ten years later she moved back to Sturgis and on March 28, 1992 she married Marty Jolley. She was a grief counselor and assistant at Jolley Funeral Home until she retired. She then delivered Hertz cars and had numerous small business ventures.
June was a talented artist and had many interests. She was a bowler, water and snow skier, golfer, played cards, and was an avid Bronco and Giants fan. She did a lot of wood carvings and drawings. June loved going for a ride and socializing with her friends. She enjoyed helping the elderly and meeting her friends at McDonalds for breakfast.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, made church banners, picked up the elderly ladies for church, and taught religious instruction classes. She later joined the Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church in Piedmont.
She is survived by her children: Janice [John] Simons, Jim [Margie] Aldren, Jerry Aldren, Jon [Heidi] Aldren; step-children: Marc [Haley] Jolley, Nathan [Shonda] Jolley, and Marty-Lynn Jolley [Heidi Valer]; 13 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law: Clint [Sandi] Jolley.
June was preceded in death by her husband: Marty; her parents; two brothers: Jerry Huchendorf and Ron Huchendorf; two sisters: Joan Snyder and Bonnie Naegli; two great-grandchildren: Kristi Simons and Christian Van Horn; and daughter-in-law: Shari Aldren.
Her visitation and funeral luncheon will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Friday July 1, 2022 at Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church in Piedmont. Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 pm at the church.
Burial will follow at 3:30 pm at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Sturgis.
